Adopted or Retired at Easy Street Horse & Barnyard Rescue

Bert is a very well behaved former trotter who had been acquired

by a kind local Amish farmer to pull the family carriage.  One day the farmer found Bert laying on the ground with an injured a leg.  He didn’t know how Bert’s leg got injured, and wasn’t sure if Bert could continue pulling the carriage.  Subsequently deciding that Bert had no practical use he asked a neighbor if she knew anyone that would take Bert. The neighbor found Easy Street Rescue on the internet and called.  After rest, rehabilitation and loving care Bert is healthy again.

Bert lived on Easy Street

until Tiffany came by with her family.

They all fell in love with Bert,

and came by often.  Visits always

included gifts and healthy snacks for Bert.

It became obvious that Bert

 would have a loving home.

Babe is a sweet gal

and very responsive to the loving she gets,

and it warms your heart.

To the left is Babe - a 20 yr old Belgian Mare who was originally from an Amish farm and on her way to a kill auction when she got detoured to Easy Street. After a full Vet check-up it was found that she has a heart mummer, needs to gain 400 lbs, and will most likely be permanently lame due to the hard work she endured. Babe is permanently retired here on Easy Street Farms.

Unbeknownst to us, Babe arrived pregnant and gave us a
Thanksgiving Day surprise!   Babe gave birth to Pilgrim,
Thanksgiving Day in 2006.

Pilgrim is a full Belgian Colt. Gelded July-2007.  He leads, stands for Farrier/Vet and learns quickly. Pilgrim is amazingly very well behaved, loves attention and being brushed. He is growing very fast and will stand well over 17 hands. Pilgrim is impressive!

Pilgrim has been adopted
to become a Therapeutic Riding Horse

Babe received thorough brushing and pampering by volunteers the day Pilgrim went off to spend a few days at the Fonda Fair.
Babe really enjoyed the attention.

Therapeutic riding horses must be "bombproof". Pictures of Pilgrim standing calmly with the umbrella on his back (above) and attired (below) are examples of how bombproof he is.

This is Echo - a PMU rescue born May-2005.  Gelded May-2007.  He is a registered appaloosa with very good bloodlines.

Echo is a very sweet colt with powerful movement.
Should make a nice game horse.

Nina and Earl

Riding through the fields of Easy Street

Earl is a permanently retired Thoroughbred

Earl's in the Easy Street logo that's at the top of all our WebPages and on our Tee-Shirts.

Earl is a Thoroughbred with a mysterious past life.  Since he's been at Easy Street we've discovered he's a great "Nanny" for the yearlings and teaches them things like how to stand nicely for the farrier.  From his tattoo and his love of running, we think he might have had a successful racing career.  He rides english and western, and does pretty well at both.  He is very responsive to the bit in the ring and over jumps.  We found him at an auction that brought in horses from North Dakota and where he'd been used as a cow horse.  He's 20-something years old, a sweetheart and gives hugs.  Earl has earned his retirement and has a permanent home here on Easy Street.

Bo has been adopted for trailrides

There was a forty-two people/horses combo.

That's Bo and Sarah in front.

Bo has been adopted by the Cook family proprietors' of the 7 C's Horse Ranch offering day charters by appointment for scenic Adirondack trail riding.

Rides also given by appointment only at 7 C’s Horse Ranch.

Adirondack Horseback Riding

We went to visit Bo recently at his new home. When we arrived Sarah was riding him.  It looked like the two had been life long friends. Bo was steady and Sarah was confident.

This is Siberia

It seems that a stray cat dropped one of her kittens off in the barn at Easy Street Horse & Barnyard Rescue. Our next door neighbor told us that she saw a stray mother with a black and white kitten far back on her property a few days prior to the drop off, however she did not want to disturb the mother. We are all on the look out now to rescue the mom and her kitten(s), but haven't had much luck finding mthem yet.  However, just in case you're interested in one stop back to look for pictures on our Adoptable link.

Within a few days Jackie called interested in the stray kitten.
