August Get-together of Friends of Easy Street Rescue

HORSE HANDLERS CLASS

This was a two part class with Thursday night being instructions and hand outs at Roxy's Country Cafe, and then hands-on the following Sunday afternoon from 1-4pm at Easy Street Rescue.

July Get-together of Friends of Easy Street Rescue

Program: PASTURE MANAGEMENT

Presenter: Elizabeth Marks,
Hudson Mohawk RC&D Coordinator
USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service

We all had a GREAT time last night at Roxy's! Elizabeth is a fantastic speaker, well organized and a wealth of knowledge. This is the first Pasture Management clinic I've heard that was geared just for horses! Didn't realize how different they graze from cattle.

June Get-together of Friends of Easy Street Rescue

Program: Equine Hoof Care

Presenter: Jeri Murray, Farrier

How come a horse can overeat and it affects his hooves?
What is laminitis? What is the difference in laminitis and founder?
When does a horse need shoes?
What is natural hoof care versus traditional?

At the Horse Lovers Meetup in June Jeri Murray, Farrier for the horses of Easy Street Rescue  gave the answers to the above questions plus any we could think of, no matter what breed of horse, complete with demo on a horse that is prone to laminitis.

May Get-together of Friends of Easy Street Rescue

Dolores Arste, horse trainer and author, specializes in clicker training to develop the best possible relationship between horses and humans. Dolores gave us a wonderful presentation on Equine Clicker Training. She showed a video of the little mini she trained to be a Seeing Eye horse, which was heart warming. Imagine having your horse walk onto an open elevator, stand perfectly still as the elevator raises up, walk into a dark vehicle, turn around and then do the same on the ride down (and never move!). She showed us how she taught the little horse to do this, step-by-step with clicker training.

Dolores kindly donated a set of her videos (3 of them) on clicker training that will be raffled off at Easy Street's Open House on Saturday, June 5. She also has graciously donated "a personal clicker training session for each person adopting a horse from Easy Street Rescue". This is ongoing with no time limit! So every horse now being adopted will receive a certificate good for one clicker training session. Dolores lives in Saratoga County part of the year and Arkansas the other. For more info look for her on Facebook.

March Get-together of Friends of Easy Street Rescue

Our monthly meetings have moved to a new location because Rhonda and Roxy have changed locations for their cafe, which will now be at the old Partner's Cafe, next to Flannel Horse in the Town of Florida NY.

Meetings will now be almost across the street, but on Rt 30, from Easy Street Rescue! The Flannel Horse has been a sponsor of Easy Street Rescue from the very beginning, and we are fortunate that Patty, the owner, was our speaker for March. The Flannel H...orse carries everything equine, and will be open from 5:30p to 6pm on the nights of our meetups! Patty gave us a wonderful education on everything BITS

February Get-together of Friends of Easy Street Rescue cancelled because of snow

October Get-together of Friends of Easy Street Rescue

Mitzi Summers gave us a treat with a fun learning horse game this past Monday evening. Mitzi filled in for Jeri Murray who was home sick with the flu. Jeri will bring her farrier knowledge to our next meeting on Monday, November 30 at 7pm.

We thank Mitzi for giving us a taste of her horse training abilities and filling in on such short notice. We hope she'll give us more at a future meeting. THANK YOU, MITZI!

Sept 28 was the first gathering of the Friends of Easy Street Horse Rescue

What a wonderful night last night! We had 18 wonderful horse lovers for our first of many monthly gatherings, and a potluck that turned out to be an amazing feast! Jen and Dan almost brought the house down with the game with Jen as trainer and Dan as the horse. Thanks for the laughter and the lessons!
